This two‑day conference brings together residents and fellows interested in teaching and future academic practice to recognize their educational contributions, and further develop their expertise as educators. Participants will use these skills to enhance existing curricula, improve departmental medical student and resident teaching, and enhance educational scholarship opportunities.

RAE contains: 

  • 2 Live Sessions (Required registration and attendance):
    • RAE Live Session Day 1
    • RAE Live Session Day 2
  • 4 Just in Time Learning (JiTL) Modules (Required; completed during live sessions):
    • Creating and Aligning Learning Objectives 
    • Providing Feedback to Your Learners 
    • Using PowerPoint Effectively
    • Teaching in the Clinic and Hospital 
By completing RAE, participants will be able to...
  • Create a learning episode including the components of an effective teaching and learning experience
  • Create a safe, inviting, and inclusive learning environment
  • Deliver feedback to learners utilizing evidence-based best practices
  • Design effective presentations to enhance learning, inclusion, and equity
Health providers and medical educators of New Mexico.

The following technology is required to participate in and complete Resident as Educators:

  • Smartphone with camera that can scan and recognize QR codes. 
  • Personal Laptop, with online access and web browser (Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari).
  • Headphones / Ear pieces connected to your Laptop.

  • New College of Nursing, Conference Room 2601, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM, United States

Parking
  • No reserved parking near School of Nursing for event.
  • Use designated UNM HSC parking and factor this into your RAE schedule.
Time Zone
  • RAE Sessions run from 8AM to 5PM Mountain Time.
  • Be advised th RAE session time attendance defaults to the device's timezone used to attend session (Example: A smartphone set to central time that is used to mark attendance for RAE Session Day 1 will list RAE Session Day 1 running from 9AM - 6 PM Central Time. ) 

Dress code

  • Required: Clean, casual and comfortable (Examples: Shirt, blouse, closed shoes, pants, shorts, skirt, jeans)
  • Suggested: Business casual.
